Malaysia SC Getting Down with Crypto

by | May 2, 2019 | Comic, Media, News | 0 comments

Malaysia’s security watchdog, Securities Commission (SC), set out severe penalties for any crypto exchanges and ICO operators who had received their official approval.

The news, back in January was met with mixed feedback. While there has to be regulation for this fast-growing and emerging space, putting a ban on these operations, prior to setting out any guidelines is likely to stifle innovation.

If Malaysia is to take advantage of this revolutionary technology, there needs to be a balance between regulation, and harvesting innovation to improve the lives and welfare of the population living in Malaysia.

The blockchain and crypto space in Malaysia continues to wait for the SC’s decision on 22 submitted crypto exchange applications.
